Open Information= Information found freely on the Internet. Example: Yahoo finance or wikipedia.com
Restricted Information = Information sources on the Internet that require access. Example: Hoovers subscription database on the Miami Dade Website.
Netiquette = Rules for communicating on Internet (subject lines and signatures very important in school/work environment)
Database = A collection of organized data arranged and retrieved by keywords.
Subscription database = A database you have to be a member of to use information
URL=the web address
Domain=the part of the URL that tells you the type of website or information (example: org, com, edu, gov, etc.) This helps you with evaluation.
Homepage=the first page of the website
Website=When you use this word it includes all the webpages of one particular site.
Newsgroups=groups of people on the web where you can find information about current events in a company. They can also be called bulletin boards or discussion groups. You do not subscribe to look at the information.
Blog=an online communication tool for posting information on the Internet.
